Paprika Studios announced the premiere of its latest drama series on RTL+ Premium on their LinkedIn profile:

"In the early 1990s, post-transition Hungary was hit all at once by wild-east capitalism and boundless freedom. The borders had opened, the rules were yet to be written, and Budapest's adult film scene grew almost overnight into a global, multi-million-dollar industry. This world took shape around names like Kovi, Michelle Wild, Maya Gold, Monique Covet and Choky Ice, and its defining showcase was the Erotika Exhibition & Expo, which drew ever-larger crowds year after year. In this chaotic milieu, lives, moral boundaries and human fates were transformed irreversibly. The Empire draws inspiration from this world, yet its focus is not the sensationalism behind the scenes, but the flesh-and-blood human stories, the choices and their consequences, telling universal, deeply human tales.

In collaboration with RTL Hungary, we created a world that is powerful in both its visual language and its storytelling. The project also confronted us with professional challenges for which we had to find solutions for the first time in Hungary: how to bring such a sensitive subject to the screen while safeguarding the dignity and the physical and emotional safety of everyone involved at every step, working with special coordination and building on the principles of sensitivity, consent and clear boundaries.
