Female Filmmakers Support Program call for applications
 22 Dec 2025
The UNIQA SEE FUTURE Foundation, in cooperation with the Sarajevo Film Festival and Slano Film Days, announces the open call for the second edition of the Female Filmmakers Support Program for 2026. The application deadline is February 18, 2026.

The program, titled Female Filmmakers Support Program (FFSP), aims to support and empower women in film from the six Southeast European countries in which UNIQA operates: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia. The objectives of the program are to develop and support women working in the Southeast European film industry in independent film production, increase the representation and diversity of women in the regional film sector, and facilitate networking, skills development, and access to financing opportunities for women in film. With the support of the UNIQA SEE FUTURE Foundation, the program is designed to support and promote women filmmakers in Southeast Europe by providing financial support for the production of their film projects, as well as by supporting their career development through the CineLink Industry Training and Skills Program.

The call is open to directors or co-directors, together with at least one additional key creative collaborator (screenwriter, director of photography, composer, editor) who identifies as a woman. Although the Foundation’s primary focus is on the six countries listed above (Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, and Montenegro), applicants from other countries may also apply, provided that their project has a producer or co-producer from one of the eligible countries. In this way, co-production and collaboration are actively encouraged, allowing for the inclusion of projects and talents from outside the Foundation’s core focus countries.

By involving producers and co-producers from the region, the program not only broadens the reach and diversity of applications but also fosters international collaboration and strengthens the network of film professionals. Through this approach, the Foundation contributes to the development of the regional film industry and its connection to global trends.

In the previous edition, support was awarded to five projects: „The Possessed“ (Ena Sendijarević), „The Confessions of a Female Gamer“ (Dolya Gavanski), „The Embryo“ (Maša Šarović), „Air in the Bottle“ (Aida Begić), and „To Hold a Mountain“ (Biljana Tutorov).

The program was supported by the Film Center of Montenegro.

In 2025, the program "Female Filmmakers Support Program" was also supported by the Film Center of Serbia.
