A groundbreaking partnership between TVR Sport and Eurovision Sport, the EBU’s digital streaming platform, is set to boost visibility for Olympic sports and connect Romanian athletes with global audiences.
Select productions from TVR Sport will be made available worldwide on Eurovision Sport, giving fans greater access to major European and international competitions, while offering Romanian sports federations an opportunity to inspire new generations of participants and viewers. Since launching in February 2024, Eurovision Sport has delivered free-to-air live and on-demand coverage of Olympic and non-Olympic disciplines. The platform complements EBU Member broadcasters by ensuring fans everywhere can enjoy every moment of major sporting events. Alan Fagan, Managing Director, Eurovision Sport, said: “Together with TVR Sport, Eurovision Sport will elevate the visibility of Olympic sports in Romania and provide free access for fans to follow the best of Romanian and European athletes. This partnership also demonstrates the strength of our network in widening access to these sports, while giving athletes and federations the global visibility they need to thrive.” Dan Cristian Turturică, President and CEO of the Romanian Television Society, said: "The integration of TVR Sport with Eurovision Sport is an important step in fulfilling our public service mission in the digital age. This initiative aligns perfectly with our strategic objectives to engage younger audiences and to build bridges between the values of Romanian sport and the international community.” By combining the national reach of TVR Sport with Eurovision Sport’s growing international footprint, the partnership sets a new standard for public service broadcasters committed to promoting sporting values, engaging diverse audiences, and ensuring that elite competitions remain accessible to all.
