Oleksandr Holyachenko, former Kyiv FM and Nash Kyiv journalist turned service member, was killed in action on September 3 reports Detector Media, citing Oleksandr’s close friend, journalist Iryna Hanakh.
She said in a comment to Detector Media that Oleksandr had enlisted in 2025, joining his father, who has also been fighting on the front line since 2022. The journalist worked in the news department at Kyiv FM in 2016–2020. According to Iryna Hanakh, Oleksandr was remarkably attentive to detail and had an immense sense of responsibility to the listener. “His articles and live broadcasts always had one thing in common: respect for the audience. He was always guided by this principle in his work,” Iryna shared. Oleksandr was taking interviews and writing analytical articles for Nash Kyiv since 2022. Iryna Hanakh says that Oleksandr’s colleagues remember him as a journalist “who knew how to see the person behind the news.” “Olexandr Holyachenko will remain in the memory of those who knew him, personally and through his work, as an honest and dedicated journalist, as well as a person who chose the path of service. His death is a great loss for the journalist community and for the entire country,” said Iryna. Oleksandr’s death was also reported by his father, TV presenter and serviceman Serhiy Holyachenko. However, his Facebook profile is private and the post is not available to the public. In a comment to IMI, Iryna Hanakh said that Oleksandr died in Zaporizhia oblast and that the circumstances of his death need to be clarified further. According to the Institute of Mass Information, Oleksandr Holyachenko is the 109th media worker to die in the course of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. RELATED
