CEEKanal D's hit drama Time Goes By gets an Arab remake
Kanal D International announced a new format licensing agreement with MBC Group, the largest and leading media & entertainment network in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, for the critically acclaimed Turkish drama Time Goes By (Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman Ki).
The deal marks a significant milestone in the continued expansion of Turkish drama formats across the region, as MBC prepares to bring a local adaptation of this powerful, character-driven family saga to its audiences. First broadcast in Turkey in 2010, Time Goes By quickly became one of the most beloved and talked-about dramas of its era. Set against the sweeping social and political changes of the 1960s and beyond, the story follows the Akarsu family through love, betrayal, sacrifice, and survival in the face of life’s relentless challenges. With its rich multi-generational narrative, the series is celebrated for its complex family dynamics, strong female characters, and emotionally charged storytelling—elements that have resonated deeply with viewers across cultures. Elif Tatoglu, Director of Distribution Strategy at Kanal D International, commented: "We are delighted to partner with MBC on this format adaptation. Time Goes By is a timeless story about resilience, transformation, and the unbreakable bonds of family—led by unforgettable, strong women at its heart. We are confident that MBC’s adaptation will honor the spirit of the original while speaking directly to the hearts of local audiences." RELATED
