The highly anticipated NEM Dubrovnik conference and market officially launches today, bringing together key players from the media and entertainment industries. With an expected 1.000 participants, the event has already set a vibrant tone for discussions on innovation, content creation, and market trends shaping the future of the industry.
The first day’s sessions tackle pressing industry issues, from the impact of political shifts on content distribution to the role of AI in media growth, setting the stage for a week of high-level networking and debate. The afternoon kicks off with "Content Trends in the Era of Trump: Protectionism, Production, and International Markets," where Guy Bisson, Executive Director & Co-Founder of Ampere Analysis, will deliver a data-driven presentation on how shifting political landscapes influence content strategies. His insights highlight the challenges and adaptations required in an era of rising protectionism. Next, Bernd Fesel, Director of Marketing, Communication & Partnerships at EIT Culture & Creativity, will take the stage for "Innovative Investment Partners to Scale in Global Markets." He will explore new funding models and partnerships driving international expansion for media ventures. The focus then will be shifted to technology with Marco Nadotti, Head of Media and Entertainment at BytePlus, presenting "Case Studies on AI-Powered Media Growth." His talk showcased real-world applications of AI in content creation, personalization, and audience engagement. A BBC Keynote Q&A, moderated by Sanja Božić-Ljubičić (CEO, Pickbox, Mediatranslations, Mediavision, and NEM), titled "Next-Level Collaboration: Rethinking Media Partnerships in a Changing World" is also part of Monday's agenda. Bartosz Witak (General Manager, SVP of CEE, MENA and Turkey, BBC Studios) will join the conversation, discussing how evolving market dynamics demand fresh approaches to alliances and co-productions. The session "Globo: 100 Years of Stories," will be presented by Rodrigo Nascimento (Head of International Business for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Globo), and will celebrate the Brazilian media giant’s legacy while outlining its strategies for future growth in global markets. The day’s final panel, "Windowing, Exclusiveness, and Distribution Deals: Buyer’s Nightmare or Opportunity?" features Industry leaders including Iulia Plesi (PRO TV), Faye Tsitsipi (COSMOTE TV), Jana Semjonova (Latvian Public Service Media), Anna Borys (TVN Poland), András Borsány-Gyenes (Network4 Media Group), and Daniela Draštata (HRT) and will weigh in on the complexities of content licensing in a fragmented media landscape.
