Editors urge EU to act against Orban's "foreign agents" law

The International Press Institute (IPI) today expresses its support for the recent joint statement issued by 92 editors from across Europe, including members of our Central and Eastern Europe Independent Media Network, opposing the Hungarian ruling party’s newly introduced bill on foreign funding.

Signatories from the network include Beata Balogová, Editor-in-Chief of SME (Slovakia); Bartosz T. Wieliński, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, and Roman Imielski, First Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Gazeta Wyborcza (Poland); Cristian Delcea and Mihai Voinea, Editors-in-Chief and Co-Founders of Recorder (Romania); Ivaylo Stanchev, Editor-in-Chief of Capital (Bulgaria); Jelena Pavić Valentić, Editor-in-Chief of Telegram (Croatia); Michał Danielewski, Editor-in-Chief of OKO.press (Poland); Peter Bárdy, Editor-in-Chief of Aktuality (Slovakia); and Robert Břešťan, Editor-in-Chief of HlídacíPes.org (Czech Republic).

The statement was written by Veronika Munk, Director of Innovation and New Markets at Denník N (Slovakia), which is also a member of the CEE Network.
