BBC Studios Distribution announced yesterday that it has licensed the Love Productions format The Great Bake Off to RTVS, Slovakia's public television and radio broadcaster.

CEETV reported first that the format is getting a Slovak remake back in June.

The agreement will grant RTVS the format license for two series of the baking competition, which is already a firm favorite in over 30 countries across the globe with Kenya one of the most recent markets to air the series, the distributor said. The commission comes as SBT and Discovery in Brazil renewed their license agreement with BBC Studios Distribution for a sixth season of the format, known locally as Bake Off Brasil – Mão na Massa airing on SBT and Discovery Home & Health, and a second series was ordered for Czech TV. Production on the Swedish version of the series has also recently wrapped.

Andre Renaud, Senior Vice President for Global Format Sales at BBC Studios Distribution said: "The Great Bake Off continues to be appealing to all tastes internationally, through both its competitive spirit and its mouth-watering creations and I am sure the Slovakian version on RTVS will prove to be a showstopper!"

This is BBC Studios Distribution’s second format deal with RTVS, following the sale of The Greats in 2018.
